I have a love hate relationship with this park...
The Smac Down // Los Angeles,CA
Overall, I think that this is a great park. There is a lot of space for large dogs...a lot and a decent small dog area. Plentiful water supply, benches, and shaded areas. There are usually other friendly dogs there for your dog to play with, however, that is where the challenges can come into play. Many of the owners and dog walkers do not pay enough attention to their dog(s), allowing them to leave nice piles of goodness for you to step in or they allow their dogs to interrupt your game of fetch with your dog. However, as long as you watch your step and usually there is enough space to get away from the "problem dogs" you will have a good experience. Bonus thought: Midday you will find the park dominated by dog walkers, which can be a good source of free advice.

Dexter's Favorite Park
Dexter's Dad // Los Angeles,CA
This is Dexter's favorite park the large open areas are really great for some retrieval training. There is a separate section for small dogs is a little lacking, there is no longer any ground cover in there so dust clouds come up whenever any dog is running. The large dog park gets a fresh shipment of wood chips about twice a year, when it really should be quarterly, so you might want to think about bringing a towel, your dog can definitely get a little muddy, especially after a little rain. If your schedule permits I think the best time to go is around noon, at this time most of the dog walkers are there and they seem to have decent control over there own dogs. I find that the worst time to is around 5:30 the actual dog owners usually just come in let there dog run and immediately call someone on your cell phone. Further, it seems that at this time there are much more aggressive dogs and minor dog fights breaking out. The park also has a water fountain and spigot for filling up dog water bowls, of which there are plenty, I will say though that the drain on this fountain seems to be clogged 40% of the time, leaving a giant puddle for your dog to get dirty in. Plenty of trash cans around (although open at your own risk) plenty of pooper scoopers although half the time you end of with two pushers and no scoop, and have to create your own kind of vice system. I would love this park so much more if people would just watch their dog, this is the only place safe for me to try to do some frisbee training and when your dog comes in and steals the frisbee runs off with it and you or off at the other end of the park talking on your cell phone, it really is a mood killer. Say hi to Dexter at the dog park next time!
